Nigeria Premier League champions, Plateau United have crashed out of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup after suffering a 4-0 defeat to Algerian club, USM Alger.

After the second leg of the playoff played on Tuesday, Plateau United were knocked out on a 5-2 aggregate following a 2-1 first leg result at the Agege Stadium.

After a rather promising start to the game on Tuesday, Plateau United went behind when Kaddour Beldjlali nodded home from a corner kick in the 29th minute.

Oussama Darlafou, who scored USM’s only goal in the first leg at the Agege Stadium, went on to score a brace before Mokhtar Benkhermassa added the third late on.

Plateau United had crashed out of the CAF Champions League, and consequently got relegated to the continental’s second tier championship.

They are the first of four Nigerian clubs to crash out, with Akwa United, MFM FC and Enyimba yet to play.
