Club Africain, who beat Nigeria’s Rivers United 2-0 in Port Harcourt, finished top of Group A after thrashing Uganda’s KCCA 4-0.

The Tunisians won the group with 12 points and are joined in the last eight by fellow North Africans FUS Rabat of Morocco, who beat Rivers United 2-1 at home in a concurrent match to edge into second place ahead of KCCA.

Africain got off to a flying start and claimed the lead as early as the 11th minute through Saber Khalifa.

That set the tone for the remainder of the first half, as the Tunisians added goals in the 25th and 41st minutes through Mannoubi Haddad and Moataz Zemzemi to see themselves 3-0 up at the interval.

There was only one further goal in the match at the Olympic Stadium in Rades, with CA taking their foot off the pedal, at least until Haddad claimed his second with a strike in injury time at the end of the game to make it 4-0.

The Tunisians will face either MC Alger or compatriots CS Sfaxien in the last eight.

Rivers United crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup after managing just six points from six games.
