Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has been crowned the best player in Africa following Thursday's award ceremony held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.

Salah's feat is historic as no Egyptian player as ever being voted best on the continet

From 1992 to 2016, from Ghana’s Abedi Pele to Algerian Riyad Mahrez, 16 players have laid claim to the most prestigious individual honour in African football and Salah has now joined this exclusive list.

Salah who has been in top form for club and country saw off competition from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Senegal's Sadio Mane.

The Borussia Dortmund man finished in third place behind Salah's team-mate at Liverpool Mane who was voted runner-up

Women National Team Of the Year - South Africa Women National team

Youth Player of the Year - Patson Daka (Zambia)
