Kogi women and youths are protesting the nonpayment of salaries which has spanned to three years now.

BOUNCE NEWS observed that the women expressed their displeasures in a grievous manner during the street protest  shortly after holding a stakeholders meetings ahead of the Kogi/Koto Federal Constituency Bye-elections.

The inscriptions on their placards read:

"PDP, where are you? come and rescue us from this Bellostocrazy disease that gave birth  to yeyesity and death", "pay our children's salaries" "Kogi state is a civil servant state" amongst other inscriptions.

While recounting the hardship that has continued to rock the state due to the non payment of salaries, they said they have lost a lot of family members, friends and colleagues to hunger .

"Innocent civil servants are  visiting the land of " see- me- no- more"  due to non-payment of salaries and arrears by the state government and our governor is going on National Television to announce that he is not owing,this is wickedness "


The protesting women and youths told BOUNCE NEWS that, so many civil servants have been turned into civil beggars as they are now left at the mercy of their friends, families and market women for their daily survival.

"we cannot sell our goods any more,we pay transport fares to bring our produce to market and at the end of the day,we return home empty. We are running at loss everyday, no market because  its the civil servants that patronise us the most,but the civil servants always come to ask for sales on credit. We are tired!"

They lamented that the  state government have continued to carry out unending screening exercises since its assumption in office without making a headway.

"Omission list, unclear list, pardon list  amongst other unending list is eating us up. At this junction,we say enough is enough!"

In their resolve, The  aggrieved women and youths hinted BOUNCE NEWS that they are ready to vote out the current administration in the forthcoming Kogi K/K Federal Constituency Bye- election.

Kabawa community in Lokoja is amongst other communities which is dominated by market  women, men, and hawkers.
