Buhari Under Fire For Reinstating Suspended NHIS Boss
Is Nigeria's Executive arm of government divided against itself?
One issue appears to be showing this sign of disagreement.
Reactions have continued to trail the reinstatement of the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Professor Usman Yusuf, who was suspended by the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, on July 6, 2017.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday recalled Yusuf, in a letter with reference number, ‘SH/COS/10/6/A/29’, signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
Yusuf, who is being probed by the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, was accused of perpetrating fraud to the tune of 919 million Naira.
The move has again resulted in many Nigerians calling to question the anti-graft fight of the president.

So Buhari will pretend not to be aware of revelations by a former acting DG of the NIA on how Buhari’s chief of Staff tried to extort $2 million from him. This on the same day the President reinstated the allegedly legendarily corrupt suspended NHIS boss. Anti corruption my foot!— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) February 7, 2018
Reinstatement of NHIS Boss: The Tuesday's recall of the suspended NHIS Boss, Prof. Yusuf Usman by President @MBuhari is shocking, scandalous and a mockery of justice. This @APCNigeria led administration stinks of corruption and has lost all claim of fighting graft. pic.twitter.com/wrRebqQzTN— Official PDP Nigeria (@OfficialPDPNig) February 7, 2018
According to @MobilePunch ‘When we reached out to him to respond to the allegations against him, Yusuf said, “F*ck you, and f*ck the minister’-Yet, this man has been reinstated by Buhari as Head of NHIS after being suspended for a ?1 billion scam. And we are fighting corruption!— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) February 7, 2018
Thank you Pres @MBuhari for reinstating Usman Yusuf back as NHIS Chief after the ‘overzealous’ & ‘jealous’ Minister for Health @IsaacFAdewole suspended him for small and petty crimes such as misappropriating ordinary N290million on training of workers without approval.
