Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari is expected to hold a meeting with the All Progressives Congress' National Executive Committee (NEC) members on Tuesday.

The meeting will also have in attendance Governors elected on the APC platform, members of party’s Board of Trustee and National Working Committee (NWC) members.

Issued to be discussed include: the crisis within the party and decision on when its National Convention would hold.

The national convention, which provides an avenue for the party to ratify its policies and programmes; elect or remove members of its NWC has been unable to hold the mandatory bi-annual non-elective convention since 2014 as stipulated in its constitution.

The tenure of the present APC John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC will expire in June.

Tuesday's meeting would also deliberate on the viability or otherwise of a tenure extension for the current NWC.

Buhari had on Monday attended a meeting of the party's caucus, where he advised the leadership of the party to avoid what he called “illegal manoeuvres” in picking the party’s candidates ahead of the 2019 elections.
