Buhari To Address Nigerians On Second Term - Okorocha
President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to officially announce whether he would run or not in the 2019 presidential election which two past leaders have asked him to forget.
That announcement, however, may be coming soon.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) Governors’ Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo, knows President Buhari will be addressing Nigerians soon on the matter.
After a closed-door meeting between the President and the APC governors held in Abuja on Thursday, Governor Okorocha told reporters that President Buhari would address the nation on whether he would seek re-election in 2019 or not.
Before Nigerians will know Buhari's intentions, he would first address the caucus of the APC on the matter.
“We discussed so many issues that affect the nation, our party and Mr President’s ambition to run for 2019 elections.
"Anyhow, Mr President in his usual manner has requested that we give him time and that he would address the nation and the caucus of the party very soon.
"So we should be full of expectations that Mr President will make officially known to Nigerians his intentions.
“But we hope that his response will be in line with what the governors are thinking,’’ he said.
According to the governor, it is the desire of the governors that the President seek re-election in view of his tremendous performances in the last two and half years.
He said: "We believe that if he continues Nigeria will be better for it".
The President may not have officially declared his intention to run, he had on several occasions, touched on chances of getting re-elected in 2019.
One of such instances was when he visited Kano in December.
