We had reported earlier that President Muhammadu Buhari will sign off the 2018 budget upon resumption of duty on Tuesday.

This was based on a conversation Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, had with Reuters News Agency in London.

But it has now emerged that the President won’t be signing off on the budget today (Tuesday) but by tomorrow (Wednesday, June 20).

This is based on information from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who confirmed this to Punch on Monday.

“I can confirm to you that the President will sign the budget into law at midday on Wednesday,” the presidential spokesman said.

Shehu also disclosed that the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council that normally holds every Wednesday will not hold on that day.

It is not clear if the meeting was put off because of the signing of the budget.

Recall that the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had on Wednesday told State House correspondents that the budget would be signed into law this week, but without specifying which day.
