Buhari Rates Osinbajo's Performance In His Absence
The president is with his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
He has commend his wisdom in handling national issues in his absence.
Buhari handed over to Professor Osinbajo before he left Nigeria for London where he was for over 100 days receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
Since he returned he has been having series of meetings, the latest holding on Friday with 36 governors in the nation.
They had come to welcome the President and brief him of their activities in the states within the period he was away.
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State had told the President that Professor Osinbajo demonstrated a very high level of loyalty to Nigeria.
Responding to Umahi's observation, President Buhari said: "Indeed. I'm grateful for the way Vice President Yemi Osinbajo deployed his energy and intellect to take charge while I was away".
“He (Osinbajo) exploited his youth and the intellect to be all over the place.
“Thank God that I have the time towards him with the media 24 hours and I congratulate him and I allowed him to come and see me so that I can personally thank him for all that he has done,’’ he said.
Vice President had in his capacity as the Acting President, issued executive orders, asked Service Chiefs to return to Command Centres in Borno to check increasing attacks on communities by Boko Haram and made other relevant inputs that Nigerians welcomed.
Earlier in the day, President Buhari held meetings with leaders of his party, the All Progressives Congress and those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he told the opposition to eschew antagonism.
"Opposition does not mean hostility, enmity or antagonism. Democracy needs opposition, one which is vibrant but responsible," he stressed.
Buhari, who is working from his 'home office' due to renovation works ongoing in his office, returned from London on August 19.
