President Muhammadu Buhari is in talks with service chiefs in Nigeria.

The meeting is holding behind closed-doors at the State House in Abuja. 

Details of what talks will focus on in the Thursday meeting was not made public but this is coming days after the president directed the deployment of 1,000 personnel of the Nigerian Army, Air Force and other security agencies to Zamfara State.

The 1,000 strong force are expected to contain the activities of armed bandits in the state and other neighbouring states.

It is a time that the current administration has been criticised of paying less attention to tackling the activities of these bandits, some times identified as herdsmen, that have killed mostly people around farm areas. 

Despite the deployment, bandits have still attempted to attack communities. 

The meeting is coming a day after President Buhari met with Governors and announced that he would be going on a 10-day vacation.

It may have also been held to receive briefs from the Service Chiefs before he embarks on his vacation.
