President Muhammadu Buhari and leaders from the South-East are currently meeting behind closed-doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Those attending the meeting with Buhari include state governors from the zone, ministers as well as the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu are also at the meeting.

The governors present are Dave Umahi who is chairman of South-east Governors, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Abia State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state as well as the deputy governors of Imo and Anambra states.

Chairman of South East Senate caucus, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and other senators and the Deputy Minority Leader of House of Representatives, Chukwuma Onyema are also in attendance.

Though the agenda of the closed-door meeting was not made public, it was gathered that the issues to be discussed at the meeting include the alleged marginalisation of the zone by the government and deployment of the military code named operation python.
