President Muhammadu Buhari has left Nigeria for the United Kingdom where he is scheduled to see his doctor.

He left on Tuesday evening.

The visit is coming a year after he made a similar trip that resulted in an over three months stay in London for medical treatment.

In a statement announcing the plan to visit the United Kingdom again to see his doctor, President Buhari said the visit would last for four days.

It is not clear if he was going to see his doctor for a ear problem.

In his last visit on medical ground, his ailment was not disclosed.

"In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the President had a meeting with his doctor.

"The Doctor requested the President to return for a meeting which he agreed to do.
