The President of the Republic of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou has visited Nigeria to see President Muhammadu Buhari who was in his home town, Daura, Katsina State.

He was received before noon on Tuesday at the Umaru Yar'adua Airport by the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari.

After a guard of honour parade, the President of Niger was taken in a chopper to the President's Daura home.

President Buhari is in Daura where he travelled to celebrate Eid el Kabir.

It is the first time the leaders are meeting since President Buhari returned from London after medical vacation.

The Governor of Katsina shared images of his wait at the airport and the official reception of President  Issoufou.

Niger and Nigeria are collaborating in counter-terrorism operations in their border lines to end the activities of Boko Haram in the region.

The terrorist group is pushing for an establishment of an Islamic State and and end to Western education in the region. It campaign has lasted for more than 8 years.
