Nigeria's President, had a busy day on Tuesday, with a closed-door meeting with the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu and Mr Bisi Akande coming in between his schedule.

The meeting held at the State House in Abuja and it began at noon. 

It was not clear what the members of the ruling party discussed, but the meeting comes days after President Buhari asked the former Lagos governor to embark on the mission to reconcile all aggrieved members of the their party.

According to a statement by Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, the move is part of on-going efforts to improve cohesion within the ruling party.

Shehu said the President designated Tinubu to “lead consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts”.

Shehu said: “As part of on-going efforts to improve cohesion within the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari has designated Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts".
