Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari, met on Tuesday with the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting was held behind closed-door at the new Banquet Hall in the State House.

The  reason for the meeting was not communicated to reporters but it is the first time President Buhari will be meeting with the the Ghanaian leader since he returned from the United Kingdom where he spent over 100 days on medical leave.

Some African leaders have since come to see him and rejoice with him over his recovery.

President Akufo-Addo is on an official visit to Nigeria and both countries are member of the ECOWAS.

He was received at the Presidential Villa at about 3.28 p.m.

He is the second African leader that will be visiting President Buhari in the last 2 weeks.

The last time the Ghanaian President was in Nigeria on August 1, he was received by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He had come to deliver a lecture at the National Defence College.

Akufo-Addo won the country’s 2016 presidential poll against the incumbent, John Mahama, by a margin of 9.45%.
