Chaos broke out at the presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state on Monday.

The rally was brought to an abrupt end after President Muhammadu Buhari raised the hand of Dapo Abiodun, the APC governorship candidate in the state.

Immediately, the President raised Abiodun’s hand, some aggrieved persons threw objects towards his direction, forcing security operatives to form a ring around him.

President Buhari was immediately evacuated when the crisis refused to abate.

The aggrieved persons had earlier pelted Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the ruling party, with stones and chased supporters of Abiodun from the stadium.

Oshiomhole had hardly spoken for a minute before they started throwing stones at the stage, forcing officials to appeal to him to stop.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun took the microphone appealing to the violent supporters to calm down before Vice President Yemi Osinbajo took over.

Before the incident, the state governor, Amosun had come on stage to campaign for the APC and Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

In response, former governor of Osun Rafiu Aregbesola came on stage to oppose Amosun, asking the people to vote for only the candidates of the ruling APC.

Amosun openly supports Adekunle Akinlade of the APM for the gubernatorial elections in Ogun State while APC have Dapo Abiodun on their ballot.

Akinlade was declared the winner in a controversial governorship primary conducted by the Ogun APC chapter backed by Amosun.

However, the national headquarters of the APC rejected that primary and accepted the primary conducted by a committee sent by the headquarters to Ogun State.

Amosun is one of the three governors believed to be demanding the exit of Mr Oshiomhole as party chairman.

The Ogun State Governor is running for Senate on the platform of the APC.
