Buhari Approves Stationing Of Special Forces In Zamfara
The President wants an immediate end to the onslaught.
He has approved the stationing of a full battalion of Special Forces in Zamfara State to crackdown on bandits operating in rural communities.
This comes after fresh attacks on some communities in Shinkafi and Maradun Local Government Areas.
The approval, which will enable the army carry out this new mandate was requested by the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali.
He also requested for the go ahead of the newly-established 8 Division of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto in the new Order of Battle.
That request was also approved by President Buhari.
There was also another approval for the movement of the 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army from Sokoto to Gusau upon the take-off of the 8 Division.
A suicide attack at a mosque in Mubi, Adamawa State and other cases of attacks on residents in rural areas have also necessitated the setting up of an intelligence fusion centre in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno.
President Buhari had described that attack as "cruel and dastardly".
He believes the move will tackle the desperate actions of Boko Haram terrorists in the North-east.
