Buhari Appoints Banire As AMCON Chairman, Seeks Senate Confirmation
If all things go according to plan, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Mr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire is the new Chairman, Governing Board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the approval of Senate for confirmation of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for the position.
In a letter to President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, Buhari said the request was in compliance with Section 10 (1) of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) Act.
Banire was the man whose faction of the APC organised a parallel party congress in Lagos State.
But the immediate past APC National Chairman, Chief John
Odigie-Oyegun recognised the faction loyal to party leader, Chief Bola Tinubu.
In spite of this, Banire is said to enjoy the backing of President Buhari, hence the new appointment to 'compensate' him.
