President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday evening held a meeting with some All Progressives Congress State Governors in Abuja following his return from Daura.

The closed-door meeting was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In attendance were Yahaya Bello (Kogi State); Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna State); Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi State); Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara State); Abubakar Badaru, (Jigawa State); Kassim Shetima (Borno State); and Kayode Fayemi ( Ekiti State).

There was no official statement on the agenda of the meeting as it ended around 5 pm.

However, it might not be unconnected with the two series of elections just concluded and discussions on the “inconclusive” governorship election in seven states.

It would be recalled that the ruling party is finding it difficult to retain some of its strongholds, as many of its states polls have been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

For instance, elections in Kano, Plateau, Benue, Bauchi and Sokoto were declared inconclusive by the electoral umpire.

The governorship election in Rivers State was equally suspended by the electoral umpire.
