This iconic comedian and filmmaker has been rumored to have died many times in the past but this time, it appears there will be no debunking the news.

News from Ilesa town in Osun state has it that veteran actor, Moses Olaiya, popularly known as Baba Sala is dead.

He died around 10PM on Sunday and his remains have since been deposited at the Wesley Guild Hospital mortuary in Ilesa.

Baba Sala had been battling with his health for some years after suffering a stroke.

At a briefing for the release of his biography in 2017, the one-time bride of the country’s entertainment industry looked frail and breathed with difficult at the event.

He could barely walk, as he was supported to the venue by two people.

“I need help. Nigerians should help me. I am not dead yet, they should not let me die suffering,” he managed to say.

Although, he died at the ripe age of 82, the question on our minds is if Nigerians rose to help him. Did he die suffering?

According to the words of his media aide, Isaac Hastrup, "He died of old-age related sickness. He came to church two Sundays ago and he was the one that said the benediction. Baba has gone to be with the Lord and he will be missed by many people including his fans."

The legendary comic act was a household name in the early 80s and late 90s. His artistic prowess was second to none as he was an expert at drawing out laughter from his numerous fans.

May his soul rest in peace.
