President of the Nigerian Senate Bukola Saraki is no more a member of the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Saraki announced his exit on Tuesday evening on his twitter handle.

“I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

He however did not announce his destination.

Saraki has been the president of the senate since 2015.

Previously, he was Governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011. He was first elected to the Senate in April 2011, representing the Kwara Central senatorial district, and re-elected in the March 2015 elections.

He was a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
