They just arrived Lagos from Spain with excitement as they look forward to a traditional wedding in Benin City.

Less than five hours after touching down at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport on Tuesday, they boarded a bus from Iyare Motors in Lagos and embarked on a trip to the Edo State capital.

But eight of them died when their bus was involved in a ghastly auto crash at Danco axis of the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

When Bounce News arrived at the scene, five males and three females were lying on ground dead as sympathisers further destroyed the bus to evacuate passengers.

Two other passengers in the bus were critically injured.

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace passenger bus marked Ben 313 YX and a Volvo truck with number plate - MUS 730 XN.

Spokesman of the Ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement corps (trace), commander Babatunde Akinbiyi says the driver of the bus, in an attempt to overtake the truck, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the truck from the rear.

According to Akinbiyi, the 10 occupants in the bus, arrived from Spain on Tuesday morning, and were going to Benin-city, in Edo state capital, for an engagement.

The bodies of the eight who died in the crash, including the bus driver, was deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.

Those injured, are also receiving treatment in the hospital.
