The Presidency has described call by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that President President Muhammadu Buhari should not run for another term in office as a distraction.

In its first reaction to the 13 -page letter written on the nearly three years old administration of the President, the Presidency said it is true that many Nigerians have been calling on Buhari to run again, while others are opposed to his return.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohamned, who responded of behalf of Buhari thanked Obasanjo for taking time of his busy schedule to write such a lengthy letter to the President.

“However, we believe this issue is a distraction for the President at this time.

"This is because Mr. President spends every waking hour tackling the enormous challenges facing the nation, most of which were bequeathed to his administration by successive past administrations.”

“He is committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him by Nigerians in and that’s where we are right now!”

Mohammed thanked Obasanjo for his positive comments about the achievements of the Buhari-administration and reassured Nigerians of a better life ahead.
