The People’s Democratic Party, PDP has vowed to challenge the victory of Kayode Fayemi in Saturday's governorship election in Ekiti.

The party said the voting exercise which produced Fayemi as the newly elected governor of the state was marred by rigging and voters’ inducement

The party spoke shortly after Fayemi was declared on Sunday by the returning officer for the election, Prof Idowu Olayinka.

Prof Olayinka is the VC of University of Ibadan.

Olayinka while announcing the results as the state INEC office along New Iyin Road in Ado Ekiti said Fayemi scored 197,459 votes to defeat the PDP's candidate who got  178,121 votes.

According to the results declared by INEC on Sunday, Fayemi won in 12 local government while his closest rival,  Elekah of PDP emerged tops in the other four LGs.

The PDP spoke through its agent who monitored the collation of the results.

Barrister Sunday Olowolafe said the party is rejecting the results in its entirety.

He said PDP could have won Ilemeje local govt had the results of some units were not cancelled; adding that from reports from the party's agents and supporters, the party was clearly in the lead in these units.

Olowolafe said the security operatives also compromised
