The Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, and his Deputy, Mr. Iroju Ogundeji, have been impeached. 

Mr Oloyeloogun and Mr Ogundeji were impeached on Friday when plenary opened. 

Eighteen out of the 26 lawmakers impeached the leadership of the House, alleging abuse of office and gross misconduct. 

The Speaker of the House is still at the complex of the House of Assembly, but policemen and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed to maintain law and order in complex.

This is coming months after the Deputy Speaker was impeached and brought back.

On May 22, 2018, the Deputy Speaker was impeached on allegations of misconduct, after a fallout with the Speaker, but he was later reinstated after Governor Rotimi Akerodolu intervened.
