The National Assembly has published its 2017 budget, raising the cost from 115 billion in 2016 to 125 billion Naira.

Total personnel cost takes 24 billion Naira; total overhead cost - 86 billion Naira; and total capital cost - 15 billion Naira.

A breakdown of the estimates shows that the National Assembly gets 14.9 billion; Senate, 31.3 billion; House of Representatives, 49 billion; National Assembly Service Commission, 2.4 billion; legislative aides, 9.6 billion; Public Accounts Committee (Senate), 118.9 million; Public Accounts Committee (Reps), 142.7 million; general services, 12.5 billion; National Assembly Legislative Institute, 4.3 billion; and service wide vote, 391.3 billion.

The Senate is currently considering the report by its Committee on Appropriations on the 2017 Appropriation Bill.
