The Police Service Commission (PSC), has demoted Acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Imohimi Edgal.

Mr Edgal's position reversal was contained in a statement made available to Aledeh online platform issued by the Permanent Secretary in the Police Service Commission, Mr Istifanus M.F.

Another Acting Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Ali Janga, also got his position reversed.

The letter dated October 8,2017 and entitled: "Withdrawal of Acting Appointment: AP:25095 Mohimi D. Edgal And AP. 36665 Aji Ali Janga, read: “Our letter with  Ref, No. PS/1924/COL. IX/ dated 22nd August, 2017 conveying the Honourable Chairman’s anticipatory approval for the placement of the above-named officers as Acting Commissioners of Police refers, please.

“The Commission, at its 24th Plenary Meeting of 27th and 28th September, 2017 took a decision not to ratify the anticipatory approval.

“The Officers are, therefore, reverted to their substantive rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

“Please, accept the assurances of the Commission’s high esteem”, the letter read.

Edgal took charge as the Acting Police Commissioner in Lagos State on August 31, after a little controversy over the position.

The reversal of his position is coming few days after the police boss gave an update of ongoing investigations into the death of Tagbo Umueke, a friend of Davido.

Could he have pushed too hard in unravelling Tagbo's mysterious death?

He had told the press that the force had decided to address them because of the interest the issue was generating on social networks.
