The Nigeria Labour Congress has carried out its promise of staging a nationwide protest on Tuesday.

In Bayelsa state, members of the union barricaded the entrance of the government house carrying placards and the union's flags.

The body had on Monday said it will on Tuesday hold a nationwide protest to drive its demand for the upward review of the national minimum wage from N18,000 to N30,000.

The General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, said in a statement that there would be no strike for now.

Ozo-Eson, therefore, asked members of the public to disregard reports that the strike would begin tomorrow.
