The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned the announcement of results of the presidential election till 11am on Monday.

Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the commission, made the announcement after declaring the collation center open.

Mahmood said: "During the course of the proceedings there may be interludes and adjournments. This is to hereby announce the adjournment of this proceedings to 11 am on Monday, February 25. Thank you and God bless."

Earlier, Yakubu had said the exercise would commence at 6pm.

He said the resident electoral commissioner (REC) of Ekiti State was on his way to the International Conference Center (ICC) in Abuja with the results of the state, giving the impression that the announcement will kick off with the results of Ekiti.

Before declaring the collation centre opened, Professor Yakubu enlightened the press and party agents on what is expected when proceedings get underway.

He dished out instructions as regards collation processes and conducts of Party agents while results are being announced.
