Justin Gatlin has emerged as the new 100m world champion as Usain Bolt was beaten to the gold medal in the final 100m race of his career at the World Athletics Championships in London.

The 11-time World Championships gold medallist was hoping to bow out on a high but he could only make do with a bronze medal on Saturday.

Gatlin won the race with a time of 9.92 seconds while another American Christian Coleman came in second in a time of 9.94secs while Bolt came in third place with 9.95secs
