Five people were killed on Saturday morning when a truck carrying a 40-feet container felled on two commercial buses at the popular Ojota bus stop in Lagos.

Three others were injured in the sad incident which happened just before the pedestrian bridge in-bound Lagos on Ikorodu road.

It was gathered that the dead were returning from a monthly vigil.

It was further gathered that the articulated vehicle, which was bearing the container, apparently not properly fastened to its body, was said to have run into a pothole, lost balance and fell on its side, crushing the buses in the process.

The recovery operation, which is still ongoing involved officials from LASEMA, the Nigeria Police force, LASTMAN officials, FRSC and LASAMBUS.

The accident completely paralysed traffic on the road as motorists could not move because there was no access road through which to divert their vehicles.

Recall that Lagos State Government has banned movement of containers on the roads between morning and evening period to pave the way for regular vehicular movements.
