We all wondered what it would take for the federal government to prosecute the president's close ally whose hand was allegedly caught in the cookie jar.

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the EFCC, has arrested and detained the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, for alleged fraud.

The government claims he was named in an attempt to steal about N223m.

Mr. Lawal is detained in the Abuja headquarters of the anti-graft agency where he will face investigators over his role in the controversial contracts.

ALEDEH recalls that the former SGF was removed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2017 following allegations that he diverted funds intended for Internally Displaced People dying of hunger in North-east Nigeria.
