President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with the retiring Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

Adamu had earlier met with the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The outgoing IGP and Adamu,  who is being speculated as Idris’s successor came in the same vehicle, NPF 01 Mercedes Benz black colour about 1:30pm and went straight to the President office.

It was Adamu ’s second visit to the Villa on Tuesday.

Adamu had earlier in the morning met with the Chief of Staff to the President , Abba Kyari when Idris was performing his last official duty at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration at the Eagle Square Abuja.

 Idris , who was appointed on March 21, 2016 to replace Solomon Arase, attained 60 years mandatory retirement age on Tuesday (today).

It is being expected that at the end of the President’s meeting with duo, a formal announcement would be made on who succeeds Idris as the country’s number Police Officer.

A source at the villa said it is the tradition for an outgoing IG to bring his successor to the President.

The source said after the meeting, expected to be brief, the new IG will be decorated by the President, who would be assisted by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Osinbajo came out of the President’s office at about 1:44p.m. while the two police officers remained with the President.
