It appears the shake-up that rocked the national assembly earlier Tuesday morning is trickling down to the states' house of assembly.

Few hours after some lawmakers defected from the ruling All Progressive Congress to the People's Democratic Party, the Benue State House of Assembly has impeached Terkimbi Ikyange, as its speaker.

Ikyange, a member of the APC, was impeached after a motion of no confidence was moved by Richard Ujege representing Konshisha state constituency.

This was backed by 21 members out of the 30-man assembly.
