It's official, the All Progressive's Congress has won the Ekiti gubernatorial elections.

APC polled a total of 197,459 votes while the People's Democratic Party polled 178,121 votes.

A total of 35 political parties participated in the elections.

APC's Prof Kayode Fayemi won in 12 of the 16 local governments in Ekiti state, while the PDP won in 4 local governments - Efon local government, Emure local government, state capital Ado Ekiti and PDP candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola's Ikere local government.

Collation of results began immediately after the elections, and the announcements kicked off at about 2:34am with a welcome address by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abdulganiyu Raji.
