Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has ordered officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to leave the roads within Lagos state.

He gave the order on Tuesday in Lagos during the commissioning of the new Berger pedestrian bridge and lay by.

He said henceforth, FRSC officials must stay on the fringes of all federal roads in the state, since they are a federal government agency with statutory responsibilities for road safety administration in Nigeria.

The Governor also recently ordered men of the dreaded Vehicle Inspection Office off the roads to undergo proper training to enhance their operations.

There had been several reports that the ban on VIO was temporary but the Governor declared that Lagosians should not expect VIO back on the roads as they have been permanently banned from the roads.

The governor also hinted of plans to ban commercial buses from other states from entering Lagos.

He said plans are under way to construct an international park around the Berger axis where these bus will just drop their passengers and leave without entering Lagos.
