The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, is eyeing the senate a second time.

He has formally declared his intention to run for Senate in the 2019 general elections.

Amosun made the declaration on Wednesday during a meeting with the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

During the declaration, the governor opted for a consensus governorship candidate for the 2019 election.

The governor’s declaration comes barely 48 hours after the occcupant of the seat, Lanre Tejuoso had declared to recontest the seat.

He advised the party members to accept the consensus result in good faith without which the next option would be direct primary.

Amosun had represented the senatorial district between 2003 and 2007 on the platform of All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) before he later became governor in 2011.
