1) 2019: Despair, Pain & Anguish As Lagosians Suffer To Collect PVC
The Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos has its work cut out.
With limited locations to register and Lagosians demanding for their PVC, INEC would need to work double shifts to clear its backlog.
The grumbles and anger were voiced across some PVC registration and collection points in Lagos.
Bounce News visited Kosofe, Ikeja, Ikosi and Onigbongbo local council areas.
The prospective voters looked exhausted, angry and disappointed. Clearly, the race to 2019 has left many already sweating, their business unattended and several hours wasted roaming around the city.
2) Again, Tinubu Attacks Obasanjo
The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has again attacked former President Olusegun Obasanjo for asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.
Tinubu said Obasanjo had no moral right to make such demand.
The former Lagos State governor spoke in Lagos on Tuesday during a stakeholders meeting of the state chapter of party.
Tinubu noted that Obasanjo was one of those who put Nigeria in the sorry-state it is now.
3) Police Arrest Kogi Varsity Student Over Alleged Murder
The Kogi state police command has apprehended Yusuf, popularly known as Santa Cruise.
He is a 100 level student of the Department of Public Administration of the Kogi State University, Anyigba.
Santa Cruise allegedly stabbed a fellow student to death last week.
The force Public Relations Officer Williams Aya confirmed the incident to Bounce News at the state Police Headquarters.
It was gathered that the suspect killed Sherrif, a 300 level student of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, who was said to have attempted to separate a fight between Yusuf and another student.
4) Herdsmen VS Farmers: Cattle Rustlers Blamed For Crisis In Gombe
The secretary, Gombe state chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Aminu Sule Wuro-Boki has attributed the lingering crisis between herdsmen and farmers to the activities of cattle rustlers.
According to him, cattle rustlers who kill their victims, rustle their cows and destroy farms on their way in a bid to escape.
Aminu Wuro-Boki stated this at the event where Gombe state police command handed over 35 cattle that were rustled from Taraba state and the suspects arrested in Dadin-Kowa, Yamaltu Deba local council area.
5) PVC Collection Breaks Up Happy Gombe Marriage
The quest to get Permanent Voter’s Card is almost costing Aishatu Bala her marriage.
She has been warned by her husband not to come home after spending two days at the registration centre in Shongo Idirisa Primary School, in Akko local government.
“This voter’s registration has become threat to my marriage as I have been asked by my husband not to come back to his house due to time I have spent outside” Aishatu told Bounce News.
6) 2 IMSU Students, 6 Others In Police Net Over Homosexuality
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State, Anthoy Ogbizi on Thursday paraded suspected homosexual men who were arrested by Police operatives in Aba.
The suspects include: Fred Ndubuisi, Anyanwu Chidera, Kamsiriochukwu Onuaha, Anderson Emeruwa, Sampson Nwadike and Nnadi Promise.
They were reportedly arrested at City Gobal hotel Aba, at about 2am.
The police says the suspects were nabbed following a distress call from the manager of the hotel.
7) Police Arrest Prophetess For Alleged Sale Of Day-Old Baby
Allegations and counter-allegations have trailed the involvement of a prophetess in the sale of a day-old baby in Aba.
The prophetess, Amarachi Chinedu was taken into custody on Thursday alongside two others - 17-year-old mother of the baby, Chinanu Monday, and the man who allegedly impregnated her, Promise Lazarus.
Chinanu told newsmen in an interview that she was delivered of her baby in the home of the prophetess and after the delivery “they took the baby away and sold him.”
She said that she was not involved in the deal as she was not given any money and did not know the buyer and whereabouts of her baby.
8) Woman Dies After Eating Food She Prepared In Osun
August 11 will never be forgotten in the home of Mrs Moradehun in Ilesa town of Osun state.
It was the eve of her church anniversary and all she had on her mind was looking her best to celebrate before her maker on Sunday.
So, immediately she returned from the market with some foodstuff, her hairdresser visited to make her hair.
After this, she settled to prepare food for herself.
But for reasons no one is yet able to understand, Moradehun started coughing while eating the food she prepared.
