As you may have learned, there are rumbles in Edo State House of Assembly.

The State’s Deputy Speaker of House of Assembly was impeached on Monday. This is even as former governor, now All Progressives Congress, APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole is facing a removal plot.

The governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki has reacted to the developments in an exclusive interview with BOUNCE NEWS.

The governor, who said his administration is paying close attention to the development in the state assembly, affirmed that the state chapter of the APC will investigate the matter to ensure that it doesn't escalate.

In the exclusive interview with BOUNCE NEWS in Abuja, the governor said: "We are watching the developments closely. The Legislature is an independent arm of government. They have their own logic. I guess there are issues which we are intervening to make sure that it is mutually resolved. And this is purely domestic affairs of the Legislature."

On whether the matter will involve the intervention of the party at the national level, Obaseki said: "I don't believe so. The state party will call to try and find out what the issues are and try to settle it politically."

Recall that the Deputy Speaker, Victor Edoror was on Monday impeached over alleged 'corruption, misappropriation of funds and act capable of destabilising the house.'

Edoror who is said to be a loyalist of Oshiomhole was also suspended for three months.

Also suspended alongside the deputy speaker were Mr Foly Ogedengbe, member representing APC Owan East and Mr Ganiyu Audu, member representing APC Etsako West 1 constituencies.

The duo got suspended for unruly behaviour.

A source revealed that the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker was carried out to avert the removal of the Speaker, Kabiru Adjoto.

According to the highly placed source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the plan was to remove Adjoto and elect Edoror as Speaker, which would then pave the way for the impeachment of Obaseki as governor with the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, taking over.

The development comes alongside an alleged plot to remove Oshiomhole as APC National Chairman thickens.

But speaking on the matter, Obaseki said: "I am not aware of such. I am not aware of such. There are processes to remove anybody from office in our party. And I am not sure any of those processes have been ignited."
