Influential chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo is currently enmeshed in a controversy over allegation of collecting N5million from the Chairman of Osodi/ Isilo Local Government, Bolaji Muse Ariyoh (BMA).

Ariyoh was said to have given Oluomo the money in exchange for his support in last week’s National Assembly primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

Ariyoh and three other aspirants contested the primary to represent Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 1 under the APC in the 2019 National Assembly elections.

The other aspirants were US based medical practitioner, Bashiru Dawodu, son of the party leader in Oshodi, Timothy Olabitan and a former Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local government, Afeez Ipesa.

Although, Ariyoh and Oluomo belonged to different camps within the party, both worked together during the party’s governorship primaries, which produced Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the party’s flag bearer in the 2019 governorship election.

Based on the synergy during the governorship, Ariyoh a day after approached Oluomo and pleaded with him to dump Dawodu and support him in the primaries.

He was said to have given Oluomo N5million and promised other goodies if he eventually emerges as the party’s candidate to represent the constituency in the general elections.

However, on the day of election, Oluomo secretly mobilized for Dawodu, who eventually won the ticket. Dawodu won in four out of the five wards in the constituency.

The result of the remaining ward, Ogunoloko/Oluyeye Ward was cancelled after thugs loyal to Ariyoh disrupted the exercise. Ariyoh came a distant third after Olabitan, who came second.

A visibly angry Ariyoh in his attempt to subvert the wishes of the people, ordered for the falsification of the result sheets.

Agents of other aspirants were prevented from gaining access to the venue of the collation centre at the council secretariat on Oyetayo Street.

When information got to Oluomo that Ariyoh was trying to change the results, he quickly mobilized his boys, who staged a protest at the party’s secretariat on the night of the election.

He was said to have also contacted the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu on the need to respect the wishes of the people in the area.

After several consultations, Dawodu was finally handed the party’s ticket. The party in a publication signed by its state Chairman,  Tunde Balogun and its Secretary, Dr Wale Ahmed released the name of Dawodu as the party’s candidate for the Oshodi Federal Constituency 1 in the forthcoming general election.

Bounce News gathered that some supporters of Ariyoh are threatening a showdown with Oluomo. They have asked him to return the money he collected from their boss.

They have also promised to begin the process of watering down his power within the union and the party. Attempts to speak with Oluomo to get his own reaction to the allegation were not successful.

Several attempts to meet him in his office on Oshodi Road were rebuffed by his aides. Our correspondent was told that Oluomo was not ready to join words with Ariyoh on the matter.
