The Police are on the trail of a man and his wife who physically abused, killed and buried their maid.

Ugunali Ifunaya, 12 was reportedly killed and buried secretly by her guardian, Ada Samuel and her husband.

Ifunaya was a primary four pupil of Kusoru Primary School, Ire Akari in Ilasamaja area of Lagos State.

Ifunaya’s trouble started after she misplaced N200 given to her by her guardian for keeps. She was then said to have inquired from her guardian’s husband, about the missing money.

Bounce News gathered that Mr. Samuel shouted her down and reported Ifunaya to his wife, that the deceased accused him of taking the money she kept.

Upon hearing this, Ada Samuel was said to have beaten Ifunaya into stupor and poured pepper into her left eye leaving her with a swollen eye.

On her arrival in school the following day, Ifunaya’s teachers asked her what the problem was, having left school the previous day with her two eyes intact.

She narrated the incident to her teachers, who later reported the matter to the Osodi/Isolo Local Government office of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Her guardian was summoned and told to appear at the SUBEB’s office in Oshodi .

She honoured the SUBEB’s invitation and stated that she had taken the deceased to a private clinic for treatment.

Officials of SUBEB, however, instructed her to take Ifunaya to a General Hospital where she would received good medical attention by a qualified optician.

Bounce News gathered that, Ada Samuel ignored the directed from SUBEB and decided to treat Ifunaya at home.

Because the students are on holiday, Ifunaya’s teachers could not monitor her progress.

Ifunaya was said to have later complained  of severe headache due to poor treatment given to her with drugs bought from chemist. She died in the process

It was further gathered that the deceased's guardian called SUBEB to inform them of the death of Ifunaya and that she has been buried in her home town.

The Child Protection Network (CPN) Oshodi chapter got involved in the case and sought the permission of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, to get Mrs Samuel arrested for further interrogation on the man.

Imohimi directed the Ago DPO, CSP Oyin Francess Adamu, to lead the squad to the accused's residence at No, 107 Femi Killa Ago Palace Way, Isolo.

On getting there, the police squad was informed that she and her husband had left home since two weeks ago.

However, the Police assured that the accused would be nabbed as the search continued.

A neighbour who spoke on the issue narrated that the woman had been in the habit of beating the deceased mercilessly for months, and that whenever anyone cautioned her, she would insult them and tell them to mind their businesses.
