BounceExclusive: Lagos PDP Chairman, LG Chairmen Set To Defect To APC
As the gale of defection sweeps across the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and other parties, high profile politicians are set to join the APC in Lagos State.
Bounce News can report that the Lagos State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Moshood Salvador, has concluded arrangement to dump the PDP for the ruling APC in the state.
Salvador, who has been having a running battle with his political godfather, Bode George will join the APC with some executives of PDP and about 17 of the 20 PDP Local Government Area chairmen in the state.
Bounce News learnt that Salvador is already in talks with the leaders of the APC in the state on his defection plans.
Salvador, who was absent at the party’s secretariat on Saturday when a presidential aspirant of the party and former Governor of Kaduna State paid a courtesy visit to the executives and delegates of the party in the state, is said to be carefully studying the political situation before announcing his defection.
A reliable source within the APC, who is part of the negotiating team with Salvador , said everything is being done to accommodate the PDP Chairman and his team in the party.
An aide to Salvador, who craves anonymity also confirmed his boss defection .
He said: “Yes, it is true that we are leaving the party for the APC in the coming days.
Salvador alongside 10 other party members, were recently arrested and arraigned by the police on two charges of conspiracy and unlawful killing of the Apapa Local Government chairman of the party, Niyi Aborishade.
Aborishade was murdered on Saturday, July 21, during the PDP’s “visitation meeting” that held at Igbosuku Village, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
The PDP Chairman had in a meeting with party members and leaders across the state on Friday, lamented that all his efforts at repositioning the party in the state had been frustrated by George and his cohorts across the state since he assumed office.
He stressed that his disagreement with George was because of his decision to operate his administration in line with the party constitution while giving party members a voice in the affairs of the party.
Salvador noted that the killing of the Apapa LGA chairman was planned to humiliate him and discredit his administration.
“I don’t know anything about the killing of Apapa LGA chapter chairman; I had left the venue when this happened. Some people who came from Bode George’s camp came to disorganise our meeting; they had earlier come to Ibeju Lekki but could not carry out their plan due to the presence of heavy security officials at the venue of the meeting.
“The problem is because I decided to go with the constitution of the party which some people are not happy about. We are working for the progress of the party; we never talked about people in our meeting.
“He said we should have things done in his usual way and I said no. He said we should be having meetings in his house which I disagreed with. I told him he did not have the facilities I had in my house.
“When I assumed office, I decided to look into the register of the party and realised that we did not have enough members, I decided to go round the state to inaugurate chapters. I have inaugurated thirteen chapters until that day when the killings took place”, Salvador said.
Salvador, a former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos between 1999 and 2003 on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), became the state chairman of the party in November 2017.
