Hull City defender Ola Aina is a year older today (Sunday October 8, 2017) and there is no gainsaying that the new Super Eagles defender will remember this period for a long time to come

Aina told Bounce Sports his birthday wishes before the Zambia game and the Chelsea loanee got all he wished for himself on his special day.

Aina, who played at junior level for England but opted to represent his fatherland at a senior level, was handed his Nigerian debut on Saturday – the same day the Super Eagles became the first African country to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The versatile defender who was cleared by FIFA to don the green-and-white jersey just before the away match against Cameroon in Yaounde last month, got his opportunity after left back Elderson Echiejile got injured in the 79th minute.

“He did pretty well. He tackes well, joins the attack, has the heart for the big game and very calculating,” Rohr praised Aina at the post –match conference.

Having virtually played his way into the heart of Rohr and most Nigerians on his debut, many expect to see more of Aina in the Super Eagles' colours going forward.

The Super Eagles' next game is an away tie against Algeria and with Rohr's desire not to lose to the North Africans, the likes of Aina could form the fulcrum of the team to face the Desert Foxes.

We wish Ola Aina more memorable birthday celebrations in the years ahead.
