The last two editions of Big Brother Naija reality show kicked off in January, but in an election year, the popular hit reality Tv show would return to screens on a later date.

Nigerians were first given a hint that Big Brother Nigeria would not take place in January during Multichoice’s Christmas launch their festive promotions in December.

When asked if Big Brother Naija would hold next year, the Chief Customer Officer, MultiChoice Nigeria, Martin Mabutho said, “Big Brother Naija would hold in 2019. It  is an election year, so Big Brother Naija  would hold after the elections.”

In January a highly placed source at Payporte (the official sponsors of the reality show) according to reports also confirmed that the show would hold after the elections and the inauguration of the new government.

"The show itself normally gets twisted so we don't want to mix it up with politics in any way.

"It's supposed to be entertaining, we wouldn't want it to be divisive in any way.

"If you notice, no religious activity gets discussed in the house too, if you want to pray you can pray, we don't want anyone to be forced to do it or divide Nigerians along those lines. So after the elections and inaugurations, it'll happen" the source said.

The last edition started January 28 and was won by Miracle Ikechukwu who won 25 million Naira cash, an SUV and other prizes.
