Ben Bruce To Police: Are You Now 'Magicians' That Read Minds?
For Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, the Nigeria Police Force has gone into applying divination in unravelling crime.
On Friday, Senator Bruce, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and Senator Dino Melaye who is representing Kogi West took part in a protest held by their political Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, to push their demand for the cancellation of the result of the governorship election held recently in Osun State.
They matched to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ask that the electoral body should declare their candidate in the governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, winner.
That protest did not go down without a confrontation from the police with most protesters having a feel of what teargas is like.
Hours after the protest the police issued a statement requesting that the three Senators should come for questioning, alleging that they had an intention of destroying police equipment.
But a shocked Senator Bruce questioned how the police arrived at the claim.
On his Twitter page he wrote: "After being tear gassed by the Nigeria Police Force, I have been summoned along with Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and Senator Dino Melaye to appear at Force Headquarters.
"The Nigeria Police Force's statement says that my colleagues and I came to the Police Headquarters and attacked policemen with the intention of entering the premises to destroy police property.
"But how can they know my intention?
"Are they mind readers?
"Why would I destroy police property?"
He then asked the police a question that brought back memories of what happened months ago at the Senate.
Some men had come to the Senate and made away with the mace and Senator Bruce wants the police to produce the report of their investigation.
"By the way, let me ask the Police when they would conclude investigation into the attempted mace theft?" he asked.
