Is there something else about Governor Nasir El-Rufai's declaration of support for president Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians do not know about?

The Governor of Kaduna State had declared his support for President Buhari, if he sought re-election in 2019.

But a former Publicity Secretary of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, thinks Buhari should watch his back.

Mr Frank has warned President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

The APC chieftain said the president should be careful when dealing with all those urging him to seek re-election in 2019.

El-Rufai had on Friday revealed that the APC Governors and Ministers have decided to back Buhari to re-contest.

“As far as 2019 is concerned, my position is the President (Muhammadu Buhari) is looking very well, he is recuperating very fast. My hope and prayer is he will contest in 2019,” he said.

But Frank noted that Buhari should be careful with El-Rufai and others seeking to compel him to re-contest in 2019.

Frank said: ”If I am the President, I should be careful of people like Mallam (Nasir) El-Rufai that are saying that the President must run or that the President should run.

”This is because the President had every right to run for presidency in 2019 if he so wishes, so there was no need to urge him to do so except there is a sinister motive behind it.

”The President is not one person people can force to do what he is not ready to do. But if the President chooses to run today, of course, as a President of Nigeria and as the President of our party, he has what they call ‘first refusal’.

”But again, has he told anybody he wants to run? The answer is ‘no’. Until the President says he wants to run, nobody can force him to do the job he is not ready to do".
