Nigeria had a successful hosting of the second round 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers and the basketball federation president Musa is willing to repeat the feat.

The third round of Africa qualifiers for the FIBA World Cup is expected to hold in September.

D’Tigers went unbeaten in the second round qualifiers played at the Indoor Sports Hall of the national stadium in Lagos.

Nigeria beat Uganda 109 – 66 in their first game before thrashing Rwanda 111 – 70, and beating Mali 93 – 53 in the last game on July 1.

Kida said with the effort put to renovate the basketball court to international standard, Nigeria will be willing to host the third round.

“In September we’re going to be playing three other different African teams, somewhere in Africa, we don’t know whether it’s here yet.

“FIBA is discussing with us to situate a location where that will be held, but be rest assured, just like we prepared for this one, we are going to be in top gear.

“You see what we’ve done to the Indoor Sports hall of the national stadium, it will be easier for us to host, but we are not fully decided.”

In the third round of qualifiers that begins on September 14, Nigeria will play Ivory Coast, Central African Republic and Senegal.
