The Head Coach of Customs, Scot Nnaji, said his team were the better side after a 83-66 victory over city rivals, Hoops and Read Club in the Nigeria Basketball League.

Nnaji hailed his players, saying the team had done very well to record a victory over their closest conference rival.

“We did well to record a victory, it was a very tough match but we scaled through because we were the better side.

“We must continue to play with the tempo and ensure we dominate the conference just as we achieved in the previous season,’’ Nnaji said.

Customs, which boast of the best experienced players, proved their superiority over a youthful and energetic Hoops and Read team in a thrilling match played on Thursday night in Lagos.

Both teams gave fans at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, an awesome treat that would definitely go down as the best game played so far in the competition.

Customs led the proceedings in the first and second quarters, 20-18 and 34-30 and dominated the third and final quarters using their physical advantage to beat Hoops and Read.
