Baba Ijebu, Son Disagree Over Ogun Governorship Election
Kessington Adebutu, popularly known as “Baba Ijebu’’, owner of the multi-million Naira lotto business - Premier Lotto is currently at loggerheads with one of his sons over the 2019 governorship election in Ogun State.
Ladi Adebutu, a member of the House of Representatives is eyeing to succeed Gov Ibikinle Amosun in 2019 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Father and son are said to be in dispute over who officially handles the governorship campaign of Ladi.
While Baba Ijebu is pushing for former Governor Gbenga Daniel to oversee the affair, Ladi wants to personally prosecute the campaign.
The elder Adebutu is expected to provide the funds for the campaign.
Bounce News gathered that the elder Adebutu had already contacted the two-term governor to help map out a campaign strategy to actualize his son’s gubernatorial dream.
Ladi was said to have kicked against the plan when he was told by his father that he had already consulted with Daniel over the matter.
He was said to have insisted that he is in a better position to oversee things himself.
The development is reported to have created a stalemate between father and son with elder Kessignton threatening to pull the plug on the funding of the election.
It was further gathered that Ladi had personally contacted Daniel to tell him not to accept his father’s offer.
The former Governor reportedly felt insulted and told him in clear terms that his conduct was rude.
Daniel was said to have told Ladi that he does not want to have anything to do with his ambition anymore.
The elder Adebutu who has taken charge of efforts to forge understanding with major political players in the state to transform his son to governor, is trying to make the former Governor have a change of heart.
Checks revealed that Daniel, who was recently appointed as the Director General of the Atiku Abubakar 2019 presidential campaign team, may have made up his mind not to support Ladi’s ambition.
The former governor on Tuesday reconciled with one of his foes in the PDP in the state, Senator Buruji Kashamu the Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly.
Kashamu and Adebutu have been locked in a desperate battle over the control of the party structures ahead of 2019 elections.
