Ayefele's FM Demolition: Document Revealing More Surfaces Online
A document dated July 3, allegedly issued by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Oyo State has surfaced online showing there was an issue between Fresh FM owned by a popular gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele, and the government of Oyo State.
In the unverified document signed by Oluseun Abimbola, the state government raised concerns over a political broadcast on the station on June 30, 2018
It was the station's 'Political Circuit' anchored by one Mr Isaac Brown and one of the panellists, Mr Dare Adekanmbi made a claim which was highlighted in the document.
the State government said it was a slanderous statement aimed at discrediting the Governor and the Oyo State government.
It read: "One of the panellists, Mr. Dare Adekanmbi, of the Nigerian Tribune insinuated, falsely accused, maliciously and wickedly misled the public and the entire world on the programme on the live radio to believe that "the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, had interest and shares in the private company involved in the building and operation of the new central abattoir".
The document further highlighted that the government had made a formal complaint on the issue to appropriate quarters for immediate regulatory actions.
The government also said it would pursue criminal action against the erring parties for criminal defamation and a civil suit for substantial damages against "the station, the programme presenters and the makers of the slanderous and libellous broadcast".
The government then requested that the station should through the same medium, panellist, anchor presenter and guests (Mr Adekambi and Mr Olayiwola Olakojo), issue, announce and broadcast a formal retraction of "the wicked lies" so made against the Governor and government of Oyo State.
One other request also contained in the document was for the station to issue an apology to the Governor of Oyo State and the government on the "ill-advised falsehood".
Fresh FM has not stated if it carried out any of those requests before the demolition of the office building on Sunday, August 19.
